CCHS run-rules Gueydan

Central Catholic pulled away from Gueydan with a combined 11 runs in the fifth and sixth innings for a 13-2 run-rule victory.
While the Lady Eagles plated one run each in the top of the first and fourth innings for a 2-0 lead, Gueydan responded with another run in the bottom of the fourth to cut its deficit in half.
Central Catholic responded with three more runs in the top of the fifth before exploding for eight in the top of the sixth for a commanding 13-1 lead. Gueydan plated a run in the bottom of the sixth and the game was called due to mercy rule.
The Lady Eagles pounded out 15 hits, including nine doubles and a home run.
Gee Garrett led the squad with a 3-for-4 performance with two doubles, two RBIs and four runs, while Brooke Lipari also finished 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run. Other top contributors included Brittany Longman, 2-for-4, two doubles and two RBIs; Megan Landry, 2-for-4, two doubles; Bridgette Swan, 1-for-5, a home run, two RBIs and a run; Kaitlyn Gros, 1-for-4, a double, an RBI and a run; and Elizabeth Garber, 1-for-4, a double and an RBI.
Landry earned the win for the Lady Eagles. In six innings, she surrendered two runs — one earned — on three hits and fanned 10.
Central Catholic (4-2, 1-0) will return to action Thursday when it continues District 7-1A play with a game at Highland Baptist in a 5:30 p.m. contest.
Elsewhere, Morgan City’s softball game at home against Lutcher Tuesday was postponed until today at 4 p.m., while Patterson’s contest at H.L. Bourgeois was rained out.
