Berwick tennis splits with E.D. White

The Berwick High School girls’ tennis team defeated E.D. White 3-2 Thursday, while the boys’ squad fell 6-0 in action at Nicholls State University.
In girls’ action, the Lady Panthers’ Jeanne Marie Hidalgo was victorious in singles action as well as Berwick’s doubles teams of Claire Parsiola and Mary Margaret Sanford and Olivia Orlando and Abigail Askew. Hidalgo beat Sloan Clay 6-1, 6-2, while Parsiola/Sanford won their match against Aimee Brien and Megan Waguespack, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4. Orlando/Askew defeated Joanne Badeaux and Milre Matherne 6-7 (8-10), 6-0 with a third set tiebreaker of 10-6.
The Lady Panthers’ Signe Parsiola fell in singles play to E.D. White’s Alex Donner, 7-5, 6-3, while the doubles’ team of Allis Armato and Emma Gray also fell to E.D. White’s Chloe Collins and Catherine Daigle, 6-3, 6-3.
In boys’ action, Berwick’s Riley Credeur fell to John Stafford 6-4, 6-4, while E.D. White’s Brendon Kravet defeated Berwick’s Nate Furlette, 6-2, 6-0.
In doubles’ action, Berwick’s team of Geisler Ibert and Drew Landry fell to Christian Bernard and Joshua Sunduram 6-0, 6-0, while Andre Adams and Parker Felterman fell to E.D. White’s Spencer Chaisson and Lenel Parham 6-0, 6-0, and Berwick’s Austin DeHart and Levi Porter fell to the Cardinals’ Taft Duplechain and Tristian Wong 6-0, 6-0.
Berwick will return to action Tuesday when it hosts Vandebilt Catholic at 3 p.m. at Kemper Williams Park.
