Berwick Panthers, Lady Panthers fall

The Berwick Panthers fell to the Franklin Hornets, 71-49, in Berwick’s District 9-3A opener Wednesday.
Franklin, who led 26-21 coming out of halftime, broke the game open in the third period with a 22-10 scoring advantage for a 48-31 lead after three quarters.
Every other quarter, the Panthers kept things close.
Berwick trailed 16-12 after the first quarter and were outscored just 10-9 in the second and 23-18 in the fourth.
Audwin Williams led Berwick with 24 points, while Brandon Naverro had 12 points and Tim Shelby, seven.
Berwick (7-12, 0-1) will return to action Tuesday when it travels to face Donaldsonville in District 9-3A action at 7:30 p.m.

Lady Panthers
The Berwick Lady Panthers fell to Franklin, 62-13, in District 9-3A action in Berwick Tuesday.
The Lady Panthers fell behind 15-0 and 37-6 at halftime.
Kayla Francise led the Lady Panthers with six points, while Brittany Boudreaux scored five.
Berwick (2-17, 0-3) will return to action Tuesday when it travels to face Donaldsonville in a District 9-3A contest set for a 6:30 p.m. tip.
