When you look at the 111th Congress in action, two things come to mind – 1) Darwin was wrong and 2) There’s no such thing as a “moderate” Democrat.
Democrats are on the cusp of destroying the best health care system the world has ever known. It’s so good the rest of the world beats a path to our door to take advantage of it. The steady stream of imported patients create jobs and tax revenues that will soon be gone as Obamacare dumbs down our system to the level of the rest of the world.
This bill is so bad that billions of dollars in bribes to senators, Louisiana’s Mary Landrieu included, had to be made to secure passage. They had to bribe their own party! If this were good policy, no deal would have to be made and it probably would get 80-90 votes on final passage. Instead, we got a lousy bill secured by cash for cloture.
Somehow, in the dark convoluted mind of liberals, “social justice” is pegged to bringing a whole system down a few notches instead of rising the tide of the disadvantaged few. Why make everybody happy when you can make everybody miserable, say the liberals. These are the same people that demand “choice” in pregnancy but condemn “choice” when it comes to sending the unaborted to a better school. They’re nuts.
One thing is certain, if you’re going to get sick, do it in the next five years before Obamacare fully kicks in. Lawsuits may buy an extra year or two as crooked lawyers and crooked judges try to wring some semblance of constitutionality out of this unconstitutional mess. But to be safe, five years is probably all we’ve got before drastic reductions in medical quality and availability descend upon us.
By then you probably won’t be able to afford health care if anybody is selling it. Triple digit increases in premiums are expected due to this bill. Most employers will cancel their company insurance, telling their employees that elections have consequences and they should have thought about that when they voted.
Federal deficits will skyrocket out of control while the rest of the world decides it is imprudent for them to forego capital expansion in their own countries by loaning money for pie in the sky social programs in ours. We will default on our national debt. All this because liberals are mentally challenged.
Liberals have been pushing to destroy America’s health care system ever since Franklin Roosevelt’s state of the union speech on Jan. 11, 1944. It was then that Roosevelt called for a second bill of rights that included government provided health care. It was a bad idea 65 years ago and it’s really a bad idea now that it’s 65 years old.
The rest of the world has tried what the liberals covet and found that it doesn’t work. Both Canada and Britain are moving away from the model. They adapted the model after the war when much of the world was in ruins. People looked to the state for answers then because problems were so large and so numerous at the time. They now see the error of entrusting the state for the most basic of human needs. We can take care of ourselves far better than government can.
Our Darwin-challenged friends in Congress like to quote the Congressional Budget Office as empirical proof that all is well with this idiotic legislation. But it is they that have turned CBO into just another meaningless voice in the wind. Congress passed legislation a couple of years ago that forbids CBO from extrapolating any data or conclusions other than the assumptions given and the questions asked. In other words if I gave CBO my personal budget for next year and said my income would be $100 million based on my purchase of a Powerball ticket on Feb. 9 and winning the Powerball prize of $100 million on Feb. 11, CBO would have to take that assumption as fact. If I then presented a spending plan of $100 million and asked CBO if I was in balance for the year they would have to say yes, even though I will probably never win the Powerball much less buy a ticket. CBO’s score of this bill is the same silly type of assumptions as my Powerball budget
As for political idiocy, Obama outdid himself when he said anyone that didn’t agree that deficits would go down, premiums will drop, etc “hadn’t read the bill.” Well, O, when were we supposed to read it considering it never saw the light of day till last Saturday?
Now that it’s been read, it is obvious that everything Obama says won’t happen will indeed happen and everything he said would happen will not happen. He is the one that hasn’t read the bill.
There are three things that increase the cost of health care; government mandates, Cadillac health plans with low or no deductible and government paying below cost for Medicare and Medicaid services. This bill fails to address any of these factors in a cost-cutting way. An interesting side note – health care inflation tracked normal inflation until the mid 1960s. What happened then? Medicare and Medicaid were born. Now medical inflation outstrips normal inflation by an extra two-thirds percent.
The feds deadbeat payment policy turned billons of their costs to zero, causing the industry to inflate its way around the problem while billions of government costs were shifted to private insurance consumers.
There’s a really special part of the so-called healthcare bill – remember those “death panels” that allegedly didn’t exist? They are codified in this bill. In fact, that’s the part of the bill that has the provision against future repeal.
The only way out of this mess is to send the liberals home, all of them now that everyone knows the “moderate” Democrat is a myth. The only way to save the republic and quality health care is to never vote for a Democrat in any branch of Congress ever again. Send an independent, send a Republican or send a Libertarian but never, ever send another Democrat.
