FSHS girls, boys sweep Berwick
Franklin’s girls and boys notched District 9-3A victories over Berwick Friday at the FSHS Gym.
Fabian Small scored a game-high 15 points to lead the Franklin Lady Hornets over the Berwick Lady Panthers by a score of 53-31.
In the boys contest, Avery Bell led the Franklin Hornets to a 77-48 triumph over the Berwick Panthers.
The Lady Hornets outpointed Berwick in every quarter on the way to the 53-31 win.
Small poured in her 15 points on seven field goals and 1 of 3 free throws. Karson Grogan tossed in 14 points on seven floor shots. Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Hornets were: J’Ashayla Bowers, 9 points, 7 assists; Anjhae Jolivett, 6 points; T’Kiyah Harrison, 4; Dalyn Jones, 3 points, 9 assists and Faith Lyons, 2.
Franklin raced outfront by a 27-4 first quarter lead of which it never relinquished in pounding Berwick by a final score of 77-48.
Bell tossed in his game-high 19 points on a trey, seven deuces and 2 of 2 free throws. Cedric Paul and Brennan Robinson fired in 12 points apiece while Jarion Brown finished with nine point. Micheal Poledore and Jamal Johnson tallied eight points each while Eddie Stackhouse scored four with Micheal Lee tallying three points and DaMarcus Bowie finishing with two points.
Nick Osborne led Berwick with 13 points while Palmer Cox contributed 10 points.
Franklin (9-13, 3-3) will travel to face Abbeville in District action on Tuesday.
