FSHS eyes Westgate tonight; HMS, WSM play on Friday
The Franklin Hornets travel to face the Westgate Tigers tonight to open Week 2 of the high school prep season.
Both the Hanson Memorial Tigers and the West St. Mary Wolfpack will enter action on Friday in their respective classes.
Franklin (0-1) travels to New Iberia tonight for a 7 p.m. kickoff against District 4-A competitor Westgate (1-0) at Lloyd G. Porter Stadium.
Franklin, which opened the season with a pair of road games, returns to action tonight at Westgate after dropping a 17-15 loss to the Central Lafourche Trojans last week.
Westgate enters tonight’s non-district contest following last Friday’s 19-6 victory over the Carencro Bears.
Franklin takes on Westgate tonight at 7 at Lloyd G. Porter Stadium.
HANSON MEMORIAL HOSTS CATHOLIC-POINT COUPEE
The Hanson Memorial Tigers return from a road blowout victory over the Jeanerette Tigers to host Catholic-Point Coupee Friday at McCloskey Field.
Hanson (1-0) raced past Jeanerette last Friday as Head Coach Brett Blakey enjoyed a highly-successful debut with a 48-16 victory.
Catholic-Point Coupee (0-1) will invade McCloskey Field looking for its first win after the Ascension Catholic Bulldogs pinned a 40-7 setback on CHSPC in the season opener.
WEST ST. MARY AT LOREAUVILLE
The West St. Mary Wolfpack will once again take to the road to battle an opponent as Friday WSM travels to battle the Loreauville Tigers.
West St. Mary (1-0) fresh off its 17-7 victory over the Opelousas Tigers in the season opener takes to the road to face the 1-0 Loreauville Tigers on Friday in non-district action.
West St. Mary and Loreauville were District 6-2A foes over the past two seasons before the Wolfpack returned to 3-A football this season.
Both teams head into Friday’s contest at 1-0 with West St. Mary topping Opelousas 17-7 in week one while Loreauville pinned a 19-13 loss on Central Catholic of Morgan City.
West St. Mary travels to face off against Loreauville on Friday with kickoff slated for 7 p.m. in non-district action.
