BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Dak Prescott's dynamism put a dent in the Death Valley mystique and helped Mississippi State end some long, frustrating streaks.

Lee Delaune, executive director of the Louisiana Shrimp & Petroleum Festival, died Saturday, according to a news release from Nathalie Weber, president of the festival. Weber’s news release emailed Saturday afternoon follows.

With the alligator hunting season edging toward a close, most hunters have filled their tags for the season, and wildlife officials report no citations in this region. Sidney “Peanut” Michel, of Morgan City, said he is finishing up with the last of his nearly 300 tags.

Central Catholic High School held its annual Senior Academic, Athletic and Scholarship Awards Breakfast May 15 at the Petroleum Club. The George Allen Picou Scholarship was instituted in 1991. The individual who receives the award must display the quality of generosity to others, be interested in the conservation of wildlife, must have worked with youth organizations and must have been blessed with a good sense of humor. Eriq Blanchard was awarded the scholarship by Deacon Vic Bonnaffee, principal.
