St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:
The St. Mary Chamber of Commerce hosted a Bayou Teche Bear Festival Kick-Off Party Thursday at the Teche Theatre in Franklin. Participants were served food from several local eateries and listened to music provided by Rick Lorenzo and Mark Robicheaux. Bears, bands and booths take center stage today on the banks of Bayou Teche in downtown Franklin.
The Bayou Teche Black Bear Festival kicks off at 6 p.m.
Diane Martin, president of the Artists’ Guild Unlimited, is with a sculpture of Robert “Bob” Greenwood at the entrance of the show celebrating 50 years of art and artists in St. Mary Parish. The Greenwood sculpture is by Jerry Businelle of Patterson. “Reminiscing: 50 Years of Art” will be on display through April 25 from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, at the Everett Street Gallery in Morgan City.

Five high school seniors were awarded $36,000 in scholarships at the American Petroleum Institute Atchafalaya Chapter Scholarship Banquet. Five area high school seniors received $36,000 in college scholarships at Wednesday’s 58th annual American Petroleum Institute Atchafalaya Chapter Scholarship Banquet at the Petroleum Club of Morga
