Dr. Steven McPherson has been granted a 30-day extension through April on his contract with Franklin Foundation Hospital but Dr. Donna Tesi will be in a 90-day transition period beginning Wednesday.
The Broussard-Harris Committee hosted its 11th Annual Black Achievement Award Banquet Saturday, March 14 at Broussard-Harris Recreation Center. Among the 18 honorees were Thelma Phillips, above with family, and Shirley Boykins, below with family. The theme of the evening was “Dream with a Vision, Live with a Purpose.”
A locked gate may be placed toward the end of Cotten Road to prevent trash dumping and other illegal activities that may be taking place in a wooded area between the roadway and the Intracoastal Canal.

Helping Hearts

About 150 people attended the 11th annual Tri-City Helping Hearts Foundation banquet at the St. Mary Seniors Citizen Center in Morgan City. The organization helps families of deceased who cannot afford a proper burial. They serve the communities of Morgan City, Berwick, Patterson and Amelia. Rhythms on the River off to strong start

Scores of people gathered to listen to Déjà Vu as the group kicked off this year’s Rhythm’s on the River on Front Street in downtown Morgan City Friday. The five-piece band entertained the crowd with an eclectic list of songs that included Motown, country, disco, rock and hits from the 1980s and 1990s.

Friday night began the annual Rhythms on the River on Front Street in downtown Morgan City. The event continues with music and dancing each Friday night until June 20.
