Local Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts retired more than 3,000 American flags that were past their prime Saturday, respectfully disposing of the nation’s symbol of freedom and sacrifice.

Morgan City finished 2-0 this weekend at Centerville’s Tournament of the Teche, knocking off Teurlings Friday and Patterson Saturday. Friday, Morgan City defeated Teurlings, 47-33.

Veterans Day programs set

Patterson hoops team hits the road to raise money

PATTERSON — The Patterson High School girls basketball team rallied together Sunday on Main Street for a bucket drive, collecting donations to help buy game shoes.

Leak injures worker

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, right, mans a roadblock with an unidentified deputy after a small chlorine spill was reported Monday around 10 a.m. at the Waterworks 5 plant near Verdunville. Approximately 38 homes were evacuated and one person was treated for minor injuries.

Dozens of people were evacuated from their homes near Verdunville after a small chlorine leak injured one person at the St. Mary Parish Water District 5 treatment plant yesterday.
