Eight people have been charged in connection with a string of residential and vehicle burglaries in St. Mary and Assumption parishes, according to law enforcement officials.

Anytime Morgan City and Patterson meet between the white lines, it’s a rivalry game. But at this year’s game in the Taco Bell/KFC St. Mary Parish Football Jamboree Friday at Tiger Stadium in Morgan City, there’s even more bragging rights at stake as longtime fellow coaches find themselves on opposite sidelines for the first time.

Tour du Teche V, marathon races for kayaks, canoes, paddle boards and pirogues, begins Friday, Oct. 3, at Port Barre, La. Competition is for cash in the Racing Division and for trophies in the Voyageur (recreational) Division.

Teche Action Clinic first to join state initiative to assist Medicare enrollees

Teche Action Clinic is the first community health clinic to join the Louisiana Senior Health Information Program, a free counseling program for seniors and pre-retirees that helps disseminate information and assist Medicare applicants.
