Protect plants from winter freezes

When a freeze is coming, cover tender plants with cloth that’s supported to prevent breaking the plant and secure the cloth at ground level to keep out the cold.

HAMMOND — Winter is here, and this time of year brings questions about protecting landscape plants during the cold months of December, January and February.

Freeze warning continues

Initial reports indicate Morgan City and the surrounding area managed to escape the first night of near-record cold with inconvenience and discomfort rather than misery and disaster.
