Mr. Fred James, 82, a resident of Franklin and native of St. Martinville, died Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at 3:21 a.m., at his residence following a short illness.
He is survived by three daughters, Lena James (Richard) Laython of Houston, Texas, Betty James (Clarence) Polidore of Franklin and Brenda James Barras of St. Martinville; seven brothers, Wilton, Leonard, Wilson, Jessie, Jeffery, Robert and Calvin James, all of St. Martinville; six sisters, Antoinette Hypolite of Galveston, Texas, Della Orphe, Octavia Hebert, Shirley Charles, Irma Charles and Eula Landry, all of St. Martinville; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.
Mr. James was preceded in death by his wife.
Visitations will be observed Saturday, Sept. 14, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Otis Chapel in Franklin.
Burial rites will be read Saturday, at 11 a.m., at the mortuary chapel, with the Rev. James Addison officiating.
The Otis Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of preparations.
