Flores wins six awards
LAFAYETTE — The Daily Review Outdoors Writer John Flores won six Excellence in Craft competition awards at this weekend’s Louisiana Outdoor Writers Association 68th annual conference Friday and Saturday.
Flores won third place in the Magazine Regular Feature (more than 1,000 words) titled, “Scout’s Promise;” second place in Electronic Media with The Cherubim of Grosse Savanne; second and third place in Black and White Still Photograph with Close Encounter of the Bear Kind and The Blind View, respectively; and first and third place in Color Still Photograph with Roseatte Spoonbills and Diligence and Honor, respectively.
His electronic media entry, as well as his photography all were published both in The Daily Review, Franklin Banner-Tribune and at the newspapers’ website, www.stmarynow.com.
The competition, which recognizes excellence within various categories of outdoor-related communications, has been held continuously since 1945.
The Outdoor Writers of Ohio judged this year’s entries.
LOWA membership includes newspaper and magazine writers, editors, columnists, photographers, radio and television broadcast journalists, wildlife artists, internet journalists, book authors, videographers and public relations specialists.
