FFD investigates St. Joseph fire Thurs.
A house fire in St. Joseph Thursday night is suspected to have been intentionally set.
Franklin Fire Chief Chuck Bourgeois said a 9:35 p.m. call dispatched three trucks and 11 fire department members to 125 Alexander Lane where they found a house on fire.
Baldwin and Centerville fire personnel were also called for mutual aid.
After being extinguished, the fire department investigated the cause and determined it was intentionally set.
The home sustained $10,000 in damage. No one was in the structure owned by Angelina Sabine.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the fire department at 828-6328 or the sheriff’s department at 828-1960.
Franklin fire personnel also were called to an apartment fire Wednesday night.
The unit is Apt. 33 at Plantation Teche Apartments off Barrow Street in Franklin.
It was occupied by a woman and three children when the call came in at 9:27 p.m., and FPD responded with five units and 16 fire fighters, with mutual aid from Baldwin and Centerville.
They were able to contain all damage to that single apartment, which sustained $50,000 in damage to the structure and $40,000 to contents.
The fire is thought to have been accidental.
No injuries were reported.
