Drug charges laid after traffic stop
Multiple drug charges were levied after a local traffic stop Tuesday.
Jacob Morles, 18, of Schriever and Dustin Raymond, 19, of Texas Street in Berwick were arrested at 7:49 p.m. Tuesday.
Morles was charged with distribution of a legend drug (Trileptal, an antiseizure medication), possession of a legend drug (Trileptal), possession of a legend drug (Catapres, a high blood pressure medication), possession of Ambien (a sleep medication) and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
Raymond was charged with possession of a legend drug (Trileptal) and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
Agents of the St. Mary Multi-jurisdictional Drug Task Force patrolling South Road in Bayou Vista made a traffic stop on the vehicle which included Morles, Raymond and a 14-year-old juvenile. During the investigation, Morles was found to be in possession of Ambien, Trileptal and Catapres pills without a prescription and that he had given Raymond a Trileptal pill, Sheriff Mark Hebert said.
Morles and Raymond were booked into the parish jail where they remained this morning with no bonds set.
Alexis Nerve, 27, of Wren Street in Patterson was arrested Tuesday at 4:35 p.m. for unauthorized use of an access card.
The arrest stems from an investigation into the theft of the card from the Amelia Belle Casino. Nerve was developed as a suspect, brought in for questioning and subsequently booked on the charge, the sheriff said.
She was issued a summons to appear in court and released.
