Dorothy Jean Mire

Dorothy Jean Mire, 75, a resident of Morgan City, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Morgan City Healthcare.
Dorothy was born on April 15, 1938 in Clarendon, Ark., the daughter of Henry Thomas Dillard and Minnie Arnette Dillard.
Being deeply rooted in Arkansas, Dorothy loved going back home and visiting her family. She was a great caregiver to her grandchildren and to local working parents. She also loved to cook for her family. Dorothy enjoyed being in the outdoors tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, feeding the birds and also fishing.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by three children, Sheri Reyes and husband, Juan, of Patterson, Terry Perry of Berwick, and Brian Mire and wife, Danielle, of Morgan City; four grandchildren, Jennifer Edwards and husband, James, of Morgan City, Kim Graham of Alexandria, Ryan Taylor and wife, Kelly, of Morgan City, and Mario Reyes and wife, Cheryl, of New Orleans. Dorothy is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Austin McLaughlin, Brooklyn Taylor, Ava Taylor, Joshua Adams, Kayla Jones, Hayley Fontenot and Ty Fontenot; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marie Mondy of Baton Rouge.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Thomas and Minnie Arnette Dillard; husband, Harold C. Mire; one daughter, Sharon O’Quinn; brother, Lloyd Dillard; and one sister, Christine Hebert.
Graveside services will be held at noon Friday, May 17, 2013, in the Morgan City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2013, at Twin City Funeral Home.
