Dog owner arrested after boy horse rider bit
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:
—Krystal Simon, 23, of Sorrel Road in Jeanerette, was arrested at 4:24 p.m. Sunday on a charge of violation of leash law. A deputy patrolling the Jeanerette area responded to a complaint of a dog biting a juvenile. Upon arrival the deputy learned that a 15-year-old juvenile male was riding a horse on Sorrel Road when a pit bull dog ran into the street and began attacking the animal. The juvenile fell from the horse and was bitten on the buttock by the dog, the report stated. Simon was advised of the parish ordinances regarding pit bulls. She was released on a summons to appear in court on Feb. 27, 2013. The dog was taken by animal control for a 10-day observation period.
—Frederick James Mosely Sr., 39, of Leo Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 10:11 a.m. Friday on warrants for issuing worthless checks and failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family and on a warrant from the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office. A deputy located Mosely on Tiffany Street in Patterson on the warrants. Mosely was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail has been set.
—Roy Rodrigue Jr., 44, of Suttoon Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 12:38 a.m. Saturday for domestic abuse battery. A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance and during the investigation learned that Rodrigue and a female victim had been arguing when Rodrigue struck the victim in the leg with a piece of molding. The victim did not seek medical treatment. Rodrigue was taken to the parish jail and held until he was released on a $2,500 bail.
—Nick Salvato, 34, of Caprock Drive in Pearland, Texas, was arrested at 12:07 a.m. Saturday on charges of driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana and an open alcoholic container. A deputy responded to McDonald’s in Amelia in reference to a complaint of a subject sleeping in a truck in the drive-thru lane. Upon making contact with Salvato the deputy observed the odor of alcohol on Salvato. The deputy also observed marijuana inside the vehicle. Salvato refused to take a breath test, the report stated. Salvato was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail has been set.
—Raychele Marie Turner, 34, of Arizona Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:51 a.m. Monday on warrants for 10 counts of issuing worthless checks. She was released on a summons to appear in court on Feb. 27, 2013.
—James Taylor Leonard, 40, of Oak Drive in Violet, was arrested at 11:46 p.m. Sunday for possession of an open alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area observed a vehicle with a brake light that was not working and conducted a traffic stop on Lake Palourde Road. Upon coming into contact with Leonard, who was a passenger in the vehicle, the deputy observed an open container of vodka on the passenger side. Leonard was released on a summons to appear in court on Feb. 27, 2013.
—Lawrence Lynes Blackburn, 34, of Grace Street in Amelia, was arrested at 1:16 a.m. Monday on a charge of possession of an open alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area observed a vehicle without a license plate light and conducted a traffic stop on La. 182 near James Street. Upon coming into contact with Blackburn, who was a passenger in the vehicle, the deputy observed an open container of beer on the passenger side. Blackburn was released on a summons to appear in court on Feb. 27, 2013.
—Tiffani Scully Delaune, 25, of Third Street in Berwick, was arrested at 8:36 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. A deputy located Delaune on the warrant in Berwick. She was released on a summons to appear in court on Feb. 27, 2013.
Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Glenn Blanco reported the following arrests:
—Charles Webb, 38, of St. Michael Street in Patterson, was arrested at 10:43 p.m. Sunday and charged with felony theft over $500. The Morgan City Police Department received a call about suspicious activity on Front Street near Conrad Industries. During the investigation, officers learned that several items of steel had been stolen from a tugboat near Conrad Industries. Webb was taken to jail and held. No bail has been set. The investigation is still ongoing and additional arrests are expected.
—Joshua Henry, 36, of Denham Springs, was arrested at 10:39 a.m. Friday on a charge of urinating in public. He was released on a $692 bail.
—Ashley Nicole Ruffin, 26, of Wren Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:54 p.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to pay a fine for no insurance. She was released after paying a $440 fine.
—Daniel Igo, 29, of Pascagoula, Miss., was arrested at 6:27 p.m. Saturday and charged with hit and run driving after a complaint of a hit and run accident at the Holiday Inn in Morgan City. Officers located Igo at the LaQuinta Inn where his vehicle was identified. He was subsequently arrested and is being held on a $700 bail.
—Leonard Escort Jr., 56, of South Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested and charged with appearing intoxicated in public and simple battery. Officers were called to a disturbance near Escort’s residence where he was charged with committing battery on a female. He is being held on a $984 bail.
—Dion Maize, 20, of Sixth Street in Morgan City, was arrested and charged with drag racing, a switched license plate, failure to secure registration and no vehicle insurance.
—Amon Solone, 23, of Cardinal Street in Morgan City, was arrested and charged with drag racing and no driver’s license.
Both Maize and Solone were arrested after they were observed drag racing on La. 70 and stopped at the Teche Regional Medical Center parking lot. Maize and Solone were released on bail.
—Ronald Lee Daniel, 50, of Cypress Drive in Berwick, was arrested at 3:52 a.m. Sunday at the onramp of the U.S. 90 bridge. He was arrested on charges of failure to dim lights, operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and a warrant for contempt of court with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s office. He was stopped by officers for a traffic violation and was arrested on the warrant. He was taken to jail and held. No bail has been set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Blaine Ledet 22, of North Second Street in Morgan City, was arrested Saturday at 4:07 a.m. and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of CDS Schedule IV (Xanax). He was taken to jail and held. No bail has been set.
—Tony Brown, 50, of Mercury Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:13 p.m. Saturday and charged with driving under suspension and failure to stop at a stop sign. He was taken to jail and was released on a $1,250 bail.
Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the following arrest:
—Jessica Linn Tompkins, 33, of Sixth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 10:57 a.m. Saturday and charged with speeding 82 mph in a 70-mph zone and driving under suspension for prior offenses. Tompkins is being held with no bail set and is set to appear in the 16th Judicial District Court.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
