Desmoreaux, McLean, Stansbury top Franklin High School grads
Three top graduates will lead the Franklin Senior High School Class of 2012 during commencement ceremonies at 6 p.m. tonight in the school auditorium.
They are Mindy Desormeaux, Luke McLean and Gabrean C’Ari Stansbury.
Mindy Desormeaux, the daughter of Suzette and Dalton Desormeaux, is graduating with a 4.0 grade point average.
Her activities include the Cheerleading Team, freshman mentoring, Homecoming Court, Literary Rally and the AHEC summer program. She was also a member of the Judith Morris Memorial Chapter of National Honor Society and received the Outstanding Member award for serving 100 hours to the community.
She plans to attend Louisiana State University for undergraduate studies and then transfer to the University of Louisiana in Monroe to major in pharmacy.
Luke McLean, the son of Kindra and Mark McLean, is graduating with a 3.9355 grade point average.
His activities include Junior ROTC, three years, rank of major and drill commander; baseball team, three years; National Honor Society, three years; junior volunteer firefighter and certified first responder in Four Corners, two years; and Confraternity of Christian Doctrine summer program, 10 years.
Luke will be attending the University of Louisiana, Lafayette, to major in industrial technologies.
Gabrean C’Aris Stansbury, the daughter of Almetra Pierce and Charles Stansbury Jr., is graduating with a 3.88103 grade point average.
Her school accomplishments, awards and activities include Principal’s List, honor roll, National Honor Society, Accelerated Reader of the Month, Future Business Leaders of America, FCCLA, Literary Rally, ring committee, color guard, cheerleading and track and field.
She is the recipient of scholarships from St. Mary Chamber of Commerce, Zeta Phi Beta Upsilon Beta Chapter, Judith F. Morris Memorial and Hilcorp FLA.
She plans to attend Louisiana State University to major in mathematics with a concentration in secondary education.
