CST announces baseball, softball schedules

NEW ORLEANS — Cox Sports Television announced the network’s most comprehensive NCAA baseball and softball schedule in the history of the New Orleans-based 24-hour regional sports network.

The network will feature games from the Southeastern Conference, Big 12, Sun Belt, Conference USA, Southwestern Athletic Conference, West Coast Conference, Mountain West, Southland and the Summit League.

On March 6, the eighth-ranked LSU Tigers baseball team opens up CST’s schedule with an Interstate 10 match-up against rival Tulane in New Orleans. The contest against the Green Wave will mark the first of 13 total appearances for LSU on the network.

The Southeastern Conference, touted by many as the country’s best baseball conference, will be well represented on the schedule with the likes of No. 1 Florida, No. 3 and two-time defending College World Series champion South Carolina, No. 4 Arkansas, No. 10 Vanderbilt, No. 11 Georgia and No. 22 Mississippi. The Gators have a key series against the Gamecocks in late March, while the Razorbacks have a crucial contest against No. 19 Oklahoma in April.

The Southern Jaguars, the perennial power of the SWAC, will be seen on the network six times during the season, including a rivalry game against Grambling on March 10.

The Sun Belt Conference is again featured on CST with a game of the week, plus live coverage of the league championship game at the end of May. The Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns have two highlighted games at home against Florida International and Troy, respectively.

CST will begin the spring softball season with a look at a Sun Belt vs. SEC softball clash in Baton Rouge. The South Alabama Jaguars head west to Baton Rouge to face No. 20 LSU on Feb. 25 at Tiger Park. Other highlights of the college softball season include games for No. 2 Alabama, No. 4 Florida, No. 9 Tennessee, No. 12 Georgia and No. 24 Louisiana-Lafayette.
