Second suspect arrested in burglary
A 24-year-old Bayou Vista man wanted for burglarizing a home in Bayou Vista on March 28 has been apprehended by the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office, according to a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office news release this afternoon.
Charles Berger, 24, of the 1200 block of Clements Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested on a warrant for simple burglary and for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of Schedule II drugs.
Berger was wanted for breaking through the window of a home on Delmar Avenue in Bayou Vista March 28. Berger and Caleb Gros both entered the victim’s home and then fled the residence when the homeowner returned. Approximately $150 in cash was missing from the residence following the incident, according to an earlier news release.
Detectives executed search warrants for Gros’ residence on Sun Road and Berger’s residence on Clements Lane.
During both searches, detectives located additional evidence linking Gros and Berger to the burglary. Gros, 17, was located at his residence and arrested Friday.
