Man jailed for attempted murder in New Iberia shooting
A 23-year-old New Iberia man has been charged with attempted first degree murder in connection with a Saturday evening shooting and robbery, Iberia Parish Sheriff Louis Ackal said in a news release.
Forest Hogan, 23, of New Iberia, was arrested at 5:30 a.m. Sunday for attempted first degree murder and armed robbery. Hogan was apprehended at a residence located in the 900 block of Mississippi Street in New Iberia without incident.
Hogan’s arrest followed an investigation detectives conducted with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Investigation into the Saturday evening shooting and robbery of a 29-year-old victim on Anderson Street near the intersection with Mixon Street.
Hogan was identified as having fired the shot which struck the victim in the leg, Ackal said. Hogan was jailed with no bail set. Detectives are continuing their investigation and additional arrests are expected, the release stated.
