A substantial amount of money was stolen at gunpoint from the Exxon gas station in the 600 block of U.S. 90 W shortly after 7:45 a.m. Easter morning, Police Chief Patrick LaSalle said.
An armed man, fully clothed and masked, brandished a revolver demanding money from the clerk who complied, LaSalle said.
A surveillance camera captured the robbery, with the man stooping to retrieve some of the cash that was dropped, before fleeing on foot, LaSalle said.
“The suspect was completely covered but his build was obviously of a healthy male,” LaSalle said. While no features of the suspect could be directly observed the suspect is described as being about 6-foot tall, weighing 240 to 250 pounds. No race could be determined, LaSalle said.
The female store clerk described the robber as wearing a black ski mask, black cargo pants, black gloves with red and white writing and black shoes, a LaSalle said in a press release.
The case continues to be investigated with police pursuing leads.
