Police say Berwick Town Councilman Greg Roussel’s nativity scene camel was stolen from his yard the night after Christmas.
Berwick Assistant Chief David Leonard said the camel was reported missing from the 500 block of Fairview Drive the morning of Dec. 27 and apparently had been stolen the previous night.
The camel, reported by Roussel in an email to The Daily Review, is 3 feet by 4 feet and is in a resting position.
Leonard said it is worth about $300. The thief or thieves face charges of criminal trespassing and theft or possession of stolen property.
However, if the camel is returned in good condition, charges will not be filed, Leonard said. It can be dropped off anonymously at the police or fire departments.
