A 28-year-old pregnant Charenton woman has been arrested for filing a false police report after admitting she made up a report that two men attacked her Friday during a home invasion, according to a news release from St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert.
Megan T. Dugas, 28, of the 7900 block of La. 87 in Charenton, was arrested today at 12:11 p.m. today for criminal mischief after falsely reporting to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office that she was attacked in her home on Friday by two black males armed with a handgun.
The detective investigating the case discovered that Dugas recently spent a sum of money consistent with the amount she reported stolen from her home during the alleged invasion, the news release said. At 11:25 a.m. Friday, the St. Mary Parish sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a residential burglary in the 7000 block of La. 87 in Charenton.
