Sex offender arrested for failing to notify of address change

A 61-year-old Morgan City man was charged Wednesday for failing to notify an address change as a sex offender, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—James A. Skinner, 61, of the 700 block of Chetta Lane in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:46 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure by a sex offender to notify law enforcement of a change of address. Skinner turned himself in to a detective with the Sex Offender Compliance Division at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City on the warrant. Skinner was jailed with no bail set. Hebert said deputies responded to 53 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrest in east St. Mary Parish:
—Dean Daigle, 49, of the 700 block of Clarke Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 10:08 a.m. Wednesday on five warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. A deputy located Daigle at his residence on the warrants. Daigle was jailed with bail set at $500,000.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—Kevin J. Drexler, 31, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday for no driver’s license, stop sign violation, felony possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Nathaniel A. Rollins, 18, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday for misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Gerald Jones, 39, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear for arraignment for disturbing the peace, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
While on patrol, the K-9 officer with the Morgan City Department observed a vehicle fail to negotiate a stop sign at the intersection of La. 182 and 11th Street. As the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the occupants of the vehicle were observed reaching around inside the vehicle.
The officer identified the driver as Drexler, who initially refused consent to search his vehicle. However, a narcotics canine was used in a search of the exterior of the vehicle. During a search, an officer located suspected marijuana in the vehicle along with items of drug paraphernalia, Banks said.
The occupants were identified as Rollins and Jones. They were jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Jeremy Smith, 27, of the 700 block of Utah Street in Berwick, was arrested at 7:13 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for disturbing the peace. Smith was released.
—Audell Smith, 61, of the 700 block of Utah Street in Berwick, was arrested at 7:52 p.m. Wednesday for disturbing the peace. Smith was released.
—Jarad Lofton, 23, of the 2600 block of Fourth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 9:57 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for disturbing the peace.
—Stephanie Brown, 47, of the 2600 block of Fourth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 9:57 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for disturbing the peace.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
