A 39-year-old Morgan City man was charged Sunday for molestation of a juvenile after attempting to disrobe a 16-year-old girl at Lake End Park, Morgan City Police Spokesman Capt. James Blair said.
—Max Cordova, 39, of Aycock Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:12 p.m. Sunday for molestation of a juvenile and simple battery.
—Dusty Lee Rinehart, 31, of Plaquemine, was arrested at 4:23 p.m. Sunday for second degree battery.
Officers were dispatched to Lake End Park in reference to a call of a man attempting to drown a 16-year-old girl in Lake Palourde, Blair said. According to witnesses, Cordova attempted to disrobe the girl in the water, and the girl was able to get away from Cordova, Blair said. The girl was uninjured, Blair said.
Rinehart approached Cordova after he exited the water and punched him, Blair said. Cordova was taken to Teche Regional Medical Center and treated for injuries. Cordova was then jailed with no bail set.
Morgan City police reported the following arrests:
—David Brown, 49, of Birch Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:54 p.m. Friday for disturbing the peace by fighting. Brown was involved in a disturbance in the 400 block of Seventh Street, Blair said.
—Marco Antonio, 40, of the 1100 block of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:16 a.m. Saturday for aggravated burglary.
Antonio was accused of entering a residence in the 900 block of Federal Avenue and physically attacked the owner of the residence, Blair said. Police located Antonio at his residence on Federal Avenue. He was jailed with bail set at $50,000.
—Reynol Lopez, 28, of Main Street in Patterson, was arrested at 5:01 p.m. Saturday for hit and run and no driver’s license. Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Railroad Avenue concerning a vehicle that struck a utility pole, Blair said. Lopez was identified as the driver of the vehicle, Blair said.
—Tyler Kapp, 23, of Crenshaw Street in Berwick, was arrested at 8:52 p.m. Saturday for possession of drug paraphernalia. Kapp was arrested at the Shrimp & Petroleum Festival fairgrounds and jailed.
—Mario Tejera, 29, of Marie Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:39 a.m. Saturday on two warrants for probation violations. Tejera was arrested at the fairgrounds.
—Logan Charpentier, 22, of Irish Bend Road in Franklin, was arrested at 12:18 a.m. Sunday on two warrants for possession by a person under age 18 and vicious dogs.
—Manuel Mejia, 40, of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:29 p.m. Sunday for careless operation and no driver’s license. Mejia was involved in a three vehicle crash near the intersection of La. 182 and U.S. 90, Blair said.
—Leslie M. Trant, 38, of Thibodaux, was arrested at 8:06 p.m. Sunday for driving while intoxicated and bypassing a barricade. An officer observed Trant bypass a barricade by Lawrence Park and almost hit several people with the vehicle, Blair said. She failed a field sobriety test and later registered .197 grams-percent blood alcohol content. She was jailed.
—Karl Vaughn, 58, of La. 398 in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:27 p.m. Sunday for appearing intoxicated in public, resisting an officer and remaining on premises after being forbidden.
Officers approached two men involved in an argument at Lawrence Park, Blair said. Vaughn approached officers in an aggressive manner and started screaming profanities at them, Blair said. Vaughn was ordered to leave the premises, refused, and was arrested, Blair said.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Paul Cleveland, 34, of Morgan City, was arrested at 7:18 p.m. Friday for disturbing the peace intoxicated, two counts of resisting an officer, and two St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrants for failure to appear for trial. Cleveland was jailed.
—Allen Lennep, 58, of Moore Street in Golden Meadow, was arrested at 12:50 a.m. Sunday for improper lane usage and driving while intoxicated second offense. Lennep was transferred to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center with no bail set.
