Baton Rouge men jailed for forging prescriptions

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 30 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Robert Carter Jr., 54, of the 100 block of North 17th Street in Baton Rouge, was arrested at 10:24 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for obtaining a prescription by fraud. On March 28, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division received a report of a fraudulent prescription from a pharmacy in Morgan City. Narcotics detectives determined that a prescription that Carter was attempting to have filled at the pharmacy was forged, Hebert said. A deputy transported Carter from the East Baton Rouge Correctional Facility to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center where he was jailed.
—Curtis Williams, 56, of the 100 block of North 17th Street in Baton Rouge, was arrested at 10:24 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for obtaining a prescription by fraud. On March 27, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division received a report of a fraudulent prescription from a pharmacy in Morgan City.
Narcotics detectives determined that a prescription that Williams was attempting to have filled at the pharmacy was forged. A deputy transported Williams from the East Baton Rouge Correctional Facility to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center and jailed.
Both Williams’ and Carter’s forged prescriptions had the same doctor information on them, Sheriff’s Spokeswoman Traci Landry said. However, the two incidents are being investigated separately, Landry said.
—Donald Lahoste, 48, of the 1100 block of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:03 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of driving while intoxicated and no turn signal. A deputy investigating a two vehicle crash on La.182 in Amelia made contact with Lahoste who was driving one of the vehicles. The deputy discovered that Lahoste was wanted on the active warrant. Lahoste was jailed with no bail set.
—Philippian Lewis, 26, of the 200 block of Jones Street in Berwick, was arrested at 4:58 p.m. Thursday for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. She was released on a summons to appear in court July 11.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Dustin R. Porter, 23, of the 700 block of St. Michael Street in Patterson, was arrested at 1:18 a.m. Thursday for speeding 32 mph in a 25 mph zone and driving while intoxicated. Porter was jailed with no bail set at this time.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Becky Businelle, 20, of Utah Street in Berwick, was arrested at 10:01 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for false report of a crime. She was released on $250 bail.
