2 jailed after undercover drug bust in Morgan City

Two men were caught in a drug bust Tuesday in Morgan City after they sold several Promethazine pills to undercover narcotics detectives, Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks said in a news release.
—Ricky L. Roberts, 33, of Fayette, Miss., was arrested at 11:42 a.m. Tuesday for distribution of a Legend Drug without a prescription, possession of Schedule I synthetic marijuana and on a fugitive warrant from the Mississippi State Penitentiary.
—Stephen Detullio, 50, of Berwick, was arrested at 11:42 a.m. Tuesday for distribution of Legend Drug Promethazine without a prescription.
Narcotics detectives received an anonymous tip in regard to suspects attempting to sell Oxycodone in the area of Greenwood and Front streets. Investigators traveled to the location and located the vehicle in question. The suspects negotiated the sale of several tablets of reported Oxycodone with the agent, Banks said.
At the completion of the sale, the two suspects were detained by officers. The pills were discovered to be Promethazine, a prescription medication, Banks said.
Roberts was found to possess suspected marijuana. He was also found to be a fugitive from the state of Mississippi after he did not report to serve his sentence for a previous burglary as ordered by the courts, Banks said. He and Detullio were jailed.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—John P. Washington, 22, of Labadieville, was arrested 6:12 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant from Assumption Parish for failure to appear for possession of marijuana. Washington was located at Teche Regional Medical Center and jailed.
—Monica L. Slack, 57, of Morgan City, was arrested at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to pay a fine. Slack was located at a Second Street residence and jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 45 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—David Foret, 43, of the 500 block of Linda Ann Avenue in Gray, was arrested at 9 a.m. Tuesday for improper lane usage, driving while intoxicated second offense, and open alcoholic container in a motor vehicle. A deputy travelling on U.S. 90 in the Berwick area observed a pick-up truck cross the fog line and onto the shoulder of the roadway multiple times.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop in Bayou Vista and made contact with the driver, identified as Foret. The deputy smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on Foret’s breath and body. Foret was also observed to be swaying back and forth where he stood and slurring his speech as he spoke with the deputy. The deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located an open beer inside the truck, Hebert said.
Foret performed poorly on the field sobriety test and later registered .077 grams-percent on the Intoxilyzer 5000 breath test. Foret was jailed with no bail set.
—Quentin J. Dugar, 23, of the 1800 block of N Street in Patterson, was arrested at 6:53 p.m. Tuesday for possession of Schedule I marijuana second offense, possession of Legend Drug Phenergan without a prescription, following too closely and open alcoholic container in a motor vehicle.
Narcotics detectives conducted a traffic stop on Main Street in Patterson on a vehicle for following too closely to another vehicle.
Detectives located marijuana, Phenergan pills, and an open alcoholic beverage. The driver, identified as Dugar, was jailed with no bail set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Richard Bates, 59, no address given, was arrested at 8:27 a.m. Tuesday for criminal trespass. Bates was jailed on $150 bail.
—Heath Thompson, 35, of Myrtle Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 9:37 p.m. Tuesday for driving under suspension, careless operation of a motor vehicle, possession of synthetic cannabinoids with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and misuse of toxic vapors. Thompson is awaiting bail to be set.
—Jerral Prestenbach, 24, of Main Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:37 p.m. Tuesday for possession of synthetic cannabinoids second offense and misuse of toxic vapors. Prestenbach is awaiting bail to be set.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Katherine O. Mitchell, 31, of the 100 block of Martin Luther King Avenue in Patterson, was arrested at 10:58 a.m. Tuesday for simple battery. Mitchell was released on $319 bail.
—Shane Joseph Doucet, 42, of the 500 block of Bridget Road in Patterson, was arrested at 6:37 p.m. Tuesday for simple assault. Doucet was released on personal recognizance with a court date.
