A 29-year-old Berwick woman was arrested Thursday after St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s deputies learned a stolen bank card was used at two different businesses, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Gia Dardeau, 29, of the 700 block of Toups Street in Berwick, was arrested at 2:46 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for theft of assets of an aged person, identity theft, unauthorized use of an access card and a warrant for theft more than $500.
After learning of the warrants for her arrest, Dardeau turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City. A deputy investigating a complaint of theft on Jan. 8 discovered that Dardeau stole a bank card from an 83-year-old male victim and later used the card at two area businesses, Hebert said.
This is the second arrest made in this investigation. Shamus Dardeau, 38, of the 500 block of Clarke Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested Jan. 28 in connection with the same incident for theft of assets of an aged or disabled person, identity theft, and unauthorized use of an access card after video surveillance footage of Dardeau using the stolen card at two businesses in St. Mary Parish, Hebert said in a January news release.
Gia Dardeau was jailed with no bail set.
Morgan City Assistant Police Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—Melvin J. East, 53, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:46 p.m. Thursday for disturbing the peace intoxicated. East was jailed.
—A male juvenile, 15, was arrested at 7:26 a.m. today for uncontrollable juvenile and resisting an officer.
An officer responded to Morgan City Junior High School after school authorities had problems with him attending class. When officers attempted to arrest him, he attempted to run away from an officer and struck an officer’s arm. He was released to his parents pending juvenile court proceedings.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
