A 35-year-old Morgan City man was arrested Tuesday on a warrant for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute stemming from an investigation that began earlier this month, Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch said in a news release.
—Jose M. Morales, 35, of Franklin Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:03 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for possession of Schedule II controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute and a warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Morales was located and arrested by detectives on an outstanding warrant stemming from an investigation involving illegal narcotics activity which began in January. Detectives were able to secure the warrant based on evidence and witnesses statements that Morales was in possession of cocaine, Crouch said. Morales was jailed.
Crouch also reported the following arrests:
—Rashad N. Guidroz, 19, of Morgan City, was arrested at 3:25 p.m. Tuesday for failure to appear for possession of marijuana, failure to appear for possession of controlled dangerous substance in the presence of people less than 17 years old.
Guidroz was turned into the Morgan City Police Department by a bonding company for failing to appear in court on various charges. Guidroz was jailed.
—Jamal K. Guidroz, 24, of Morgan City, was arrested at 3:25 p.m. Tuesday for failure to appear for possession of marijuana and failure to appear for possession of controlled dangerous substance in presence of people less than 17 years old.
Guidroz was turned into the Morgan City Police Department by a bonding company for failing to appear in court on various charges. Guidroz was jailed.
—Carmen S. Bosarge, 46, of Terrebonne Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:01 p.m. Tuesday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and careless operation.
Officers were dispatched to Terrebonne Street regarding a vehicle crash. Officers were able to determine that Bosarge, while operating a vehicle, struck a parked car along the roadway, Crouch said. Bosarge exhibited signs of impairment and, upon investigation, it was learned that Bosarge had taken medication which may have been a factor in the crash.
Bosarge was given a field sobriety test in which she did poorly on an Intoxilyzer 5000 test which indicated that Bosarge was not under the influence of alcohol, Crouch said. Further testing was performed and the results of that test are pending. Bosarge was jailed.
—Ricky Duval, 32, of Park Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:34 p.m. Tuesday for theft by shoplifting (value $124.94).
An off-duty officer working security at a local supermarket was summoned for assistance in regard to a person, identified as Duval, who removed a bag from the cash register area without permission. The officer observed Duval fill the bag with food items and attempt to leave the store without paying for the items. Duval was detained by the officer. The items were recovered, and he was jailed.
—Bruce A. Gould, 19, of Gen. MacArthur Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:18 a.m. today for possession of marijuana.
—Deshawn Moore, 18, of Third Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:18 a.m. today for possession of marijuana.
Officers were dispatched to a vehicle playing loud music in the area of Barrow and Second streets. The suspect vehicle was located and found occupied by Moore and Gould. During the stop, suspected marijuana was located. Both Gould and Moore were jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 40 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Brian Scott, 42, of the 100 block of Calypso Lane in Lafayette, was arrested at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday for possession of Schedule I (marijuana). A deputy investigating a complaint of an intoxicated person at a business on Airport Road in Patterson made contact with Scott. The deputy received consent to search Scott’s vehicle and located the burnt remains of a marijuana cigarette, the report stated. Scott was released on a summons to appear in court on April 28.
—Christina M. Blanchard, 35, of the 500 block of Lee Drive in Baton Rouge, was arrested at 7:02 p.m. Tuesday for theft. A deputy responded to a report of a person attempting to exit an ambulance while en route to Teche Regional Medical Center. The deputy made contact with Blanchard and learned that she had stolen a mobile phone from an emergency responder. After being transported to Franklin Foundation Hospital, Blanchard was released on a summons to appear in court on April 28.
—Donnie Reed, 60, of the 1000 block of Grace Street in Siracusa, was arrested at 3:47 a.m. today on a warrant for probation violation. A deputy patrolling the Siracusa area made contact with a person who was walking on James Street. The person was identified as Reed. Reed was jailed with no bail set.
Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the following arrest:
—Javontrae Levine, 20, of Muggah Street in Patterson, was arrested at 1:51 p.m. Tuesday on warrants for 16th Judicial District Court for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family. Levine was jailed on $4,785 cash bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Archie Jones, 18, of the 2900 block of Fourth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 10:49 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for illegal possession of stolen things. Jones was scheduled to have bail set this morning.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
