A 24-year-old New Orleans man was arrested for kidnapping after he attempted to take a woman from a Spruce Street residence, Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch said in a news release.
—Bairon Caceres, 24, of New Orleans, was arrested at 8:24 p.m. Monday for simple kidnapping and resisting an officer.
Officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a Spruce Street residence and found a large disturbance as other subjects were attempting to restrain Caceres. According to witnesses, Caceres went to the location and came into contact with a female, whom Caceres had a previous relationship with, Crouch said.
Caceres grabbed the female by the arm and attempted to remove her from the residence, Crouch said. Officers attempted to restrain Caceres to arrest him, but he resisted their attempts, Crouch said. He was eventually subdued and jailed.
—James M. Murray, 26, of Arkansas Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:57 p.m. Monday for domestic abuse battery second offense.
Officers received a complaint of a person who was possibly shot at a residence on Arkansas Street. Officers arrived and learned that Murray and a female had been involved in an altercation prior to officers arrival.
Murray was accused of striking the female repeatedly, Crouch said. After the female sought refuge in a rear bedroom of the residence and summoned help, Murray broke into the rear room and began to strike the female again, Crouch said.
Witnesses helped the victim from the residence, and Murray left the residence on foot. Officers received information that Murray may be in possession of a handgun, Crouch said. Officers blocked the area off and began a search for Murray. Officers located Murray nearby. Officers searched the area and the residence but the search turned up no weapons, Crouch said. Murray was jailed.
Crouch also reported the following arrests:
—Errol Johnson, 54, of Belle Rose, was arrested at 3:11 p.m. Friday on a warrant for aggravated battery.
Johnson was arrested for several felony charges Thursday when Johnson approached females in parking lots, staging a gasoline leak from their vehicle and then robbing the females as they were distracted.
During the police investigation, additional charges were filed against Johnson after he was accused of using his vehicle to attempt to move a victim from his path by striking the victim several times with his vehicle. The victim was unharmed in the incident, Crouch said. The investigation is ongoing, and Johnson remains in jail.
—Keith Singleton, 46, of Jennie Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:51 p.m. Friday on a warrant for simple battery.
Singleton was located at a Florence Street address on a simple battery warrant stemming from a December 2013 incident. He was jailed.
—Priscilla A. Francis, 41, of Bayou Vista, was arrested at 11:11 a.m. Monday for simple battery.
Francis, who was incarcerated in City Jail, attacked another female inmate housed in the facility, Crouch said. Francis was booked and jailed.
—Tyler E. Brewer, 21, of Louisa Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:50 p.m. Monday on a warrant for probation violation, driving with a suspended driver’s license, and a stop sign violation.
Brewer was arrested after an officer observed a vehicle which Brewer was operating fail to stop at a stop sign in the area of Allison Street. Brewer was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and also was wanted on an outstanding warrant for the City Court of Morgan City. He was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 165 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Kaci P. Giroir, 25, of the 700 block of Toups Street in Berwick, was arrested at 1:23 p.m. Saturday for driving while intoxicated, careless operation, driving under suspension, and warrants from Morgan City Court for expired driver’s license, expired license plate, careless operation, contempt of court and probation violation.
A deputy responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Southeast Boulevard and Canal Road. Upon making contact with one of the drivers, identified as Giroir, the deputy smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath. Giroir registered .217 grams-percent on the breath test. She was jailed with no bail set.
—Roberto Gabriel Vilaclara, 30, of the 1000 block of Florence Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:40 p.m. Friday on warrants for failure to appear on the charges of possession of cocaine, domestic abuse battery, and criminal neglect of family. Vilaclara also had an active warrant for probation violation.
A deputy conducting a traffic stop on Seventh Street in Morgan City made contact with Vilaclara and learned of the warrants for his arrest. Vilaclara was jailed with no bail set.
—Alicia Bertrand, 29, of the 700 block of Florence Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:01 p.m. Sunday for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. Bertrand was released on a summons to appear in court on April 28.
—Malcolm Smith, 27, of the 3200 block of Bayside Village in Berwick, was arrested at 10:20 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of codeine. A deputy responding to report of a suspicious person on Verdun Lane made contact with Smith and learned of the warrant for his arrest. Smith was jailed with bail set at $5,000.
—Rene Garcia, 26, of the 3100 block of Lake Palourde Road in Amelia, was arrested at 1:21 a.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of cocaine, illegal use, consumption, possession or distribution of controlled dangerous substance in the presence of persons under 17, possession of alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles. He was turned in at the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center in Centerville on the warrant. No bail is set.
—Jade Aucoin, 21, of the 400 block of Renwick Boulevard in Berwick, was arrested at 2:25 p.m. Monday on three warrants for failure to appear for drug court status conferences and failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. A deputy transported Aucoin from Assumption Parish jail on the warrants. Bail is set at $300,000.
—Frankie L. Tarver II, 24, of the 3500 block of Francis Street in Berwick, was arrested at 4:33 p.m. Friday for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Narcotics detectives patrolling the Bayou Vista area conducted a traffic stop. Detectives made contact with a passenger in the vehicle identified as Tarver. Detectives observed marijuana and paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle. Tarver was released on a summons to appear in court on April 28.
—Jerri Champine, 30, of the 600 block of Bush Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:21 p.m. Friday for possession of Schedule II (Vyvanse). Narcotics detectives patrolling the Morgan City area observed a vehicle fail to properly signal a turn and conducted a traffic stop on Onstead Street. Detectives made contact with the driver, identified as Champine. Detectives received consent to search the vehicle and located Vyvanse pills. Champine was jailed with bail set at $2,500.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Virginia Dean, 46, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 12:01 p.m. Monday on two warrants for simple battery. Dean was released after posting bail.
Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the following arrest:
—Javontrae Levine, 20, of Muggah Street in Patterson, was arrested at 4:33 p.m. Friday on warrants charging him with careless operation and hit and run, and on a warrant for Third Ward City Court for failure to appear on the charges of domestic abuse battery and criminal trespassing. Patterson police assisted with the arrest. Levine was jailed on $4,000 bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Christopher J. Newsom, 29, of the 100 block of Oxford Loop in Franklin, was arrested at 8:26 p.m. for careless operation and driving under the influence. Newsom was jailed with no bail set at this time.
