A 36-year-old Morgan City man was arrested Wednesday for possession of Alprazolam without a prescription after he consumed several pills when police conducted a traffic stop, Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch said in a news release.
—David Aucoin, 36, of Second Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:54 p.m. Wednesday for failure to use a turn signal, possession of a Schedule IV controlled dangerous substance without a prescription and obstruction of justice.
While on patrol in the area of Second and Greenwood streets, police observed a vehicle make a right hand turn without using a turn signal. Police conducted a traffic stop and spoke to the driver, Aucoin.
Aucoin told officers that he had headache pills in his pocket and in the vehicle he was driving, Crouch said. Officers located Alprazolam inside of the vehicle which Aucoin admitted was his and that he did not have a prescription for it, Crouch said.
While Aucoin was being booked, officers noticed that he began to get disoriented and at one point fell to the ground, Crouch said. Officers spoke to Aucoin, who told them that upon being stopped he had consumed several pills and that he was unsure of how many and what kind, Crouch said. Aucoin was taken to Teche Regional Medical Center where he was treated by medical personnel. Aucoin was then jailed.
Crouch reported the following arrests:
—Jerrie McNemar, 43, of La. 182 West in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:18 p.m. Wednesday for simple battery.
Police were dispatched to Teche Regional Medical Center in reference to a simple battery. Officers spoke to the victim and were told that the victim was struck in face at a residence on Cottonwood Street, Crouch said. Officers found McNemar and she admitted to striking the victim, Crouch said. McNemar was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 37 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests related to east St. Mary Parish:
—Breyden Oncale, 21, of the 1000 block of Onstead Street in Morgan City, was arrested at the St. Mary Parish courthouse in Franklin at 1:13 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of Schedule I, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, and careless operation of a motor vehicle. A deputy received information that Oncale held an active warrant for his arrest. Oncale was jailed with no bail set.
—Joshua J. Folks, 35, of the 200 block of Lacy Street in Franklin, was arrested at 5:16 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for theft more than $500. A deputy learned of the active warrant during booking on an unrelated offense. The warrant stems from an investigation into a theft that occurred at a store in Bayou Vista in August 2012, Hebert said. No bail is set.
—Alexandra Savell, 17, of the 6500 block of La. 182 in Franklin, was arrested at 6:48 p.m. Wednesday for theft of goods.
—Alyssa Pontiff, 17, of the 100 block of Robicheaux Lane in Franklin, was arrested at 6:18 p.m. Wednesday for possession of Schedule I-marijuana.
A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. Savell and Pontiff were released on summonses to appear in court on April 28.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Thelma Henry, 36, of the 700 block of Oregon Street in Berwick, was arrested at 2:59 p.m. Wednesday for aggravated battery and on a Morgan City police warrant for failure to appear. Henry is awaiting bail to be set.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Cyrus Gray, 56, of the 1700 block of Harry D Street in Patterson, was arrested at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday for criminal damage to property, reckless operation, and leaving the scene of an accident. No bail has been set.
