3 jailed in Patterson drug, firearms bust

Three people were caught in a drug bust Thursday at a residence in Patterson during which St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives also found illegally possessed firearms and body armor, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Benjamin Joseph Henry, 38, of the 600 block of David Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 11:19 a.m. Thursday for possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of firearm in presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of firearm by a convicted felon, unlawful possession of body armor and transactions involving drug proceeds.
—Ashley Marie Dowdy, 28, of the 600 block of David Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 11:19 a.m. Thursday for possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Jonathan Henry, 32, of the 600 block of David Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 11:19 a.m. Thursday for possession of Schedule III Suboxen.
On Thursday, narcotics division detectives conducted a search warrant at a residence in the 600 block of David Drive in Patterson. During the search, detectives located heroin, with an estimated street value of $5,000, Hebert said. Detectives also located firearms, body armor, paraphernalia, and Suboxen strips in the residence, the sheriff said. Detectives found $844 in cash, which was seized pending forfeiture. All three were jailed with no bail set yet.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 26 complaints in the parish.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—Anthony Harris, 18, of Morgan City, was arrested at 6:52 a.m. Thursday on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for failure to appear for arraignment.
While officers were investigating a disturbance on Mallard Street, they came into contact with Harris. Harris was jailed.
—Shannon Wainwright, 42, of Morgan City, was arrested at 7:57 a.m. Thursday for disturbing the peace.
—Tommy Lishman, 45, of Morgan City, was arrested at 7:57 a.m. Thursday for disturbing the peace.
Police were dispatched to the area of Chester Bowles Street in regard to a disturbance. Officers located Lishman and Wainwright involved in an argument in the front yard of the residence.
Officers spoke to witnesses in the area and were advised that they were awakened by yelling and screaming and doors slamming, Banks said. Officers observed Wainwright and Lishman involved in an argument, Banks said. Both were jailed.
—Angenica August, 18, of Morgan City, was arrested at 7:59 a.m. Thursday for disturbing the peace by fighting.
—Ashanta August, 17, of Morgan City, was arrested at 7:59 a.m. Thursday for disturbing the peace by fighting.
Police were investigating the complaint of aggravated second degree battery from Wednesday on Mallard Street where an individual was cut with a knife during a fight. Detectives received information that Angenica August and Ashanta August were two of the individuals involved in the altercation.
—David Mire, 36, of Morgan City, was arrested at 7:49 p.m. Thursday on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for failure to appear for criminal neglect of family.
Mire was being held at the Morgan City Jail on an unrelated incident when it was made aware that he was wanted by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Sheri Schahn, 30, of Clements Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:35 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for possession of synthetic cannabinoids and possession of drug paraphernalia. Schahn was released on $1,000 bail.
—Jermaine Peters, 38, of Rose Street in Berwick, was arrested at 1:58 a.m. today for aggravated assault, illegal use of a weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Peters was jailed.
—Chelsee Krause, 29, of Rose Street in Berwick was arrested at 1:58 a.m. today for aggravated assault and disturbing the peace. Krause was released on $1,250 bail.
—Samuel Pruett, 36, of Rose Street in Berwick, was arrested at 1:58 a.m. today for simple assault and disturbing the peace. Pruett was released on $500 bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
