Colts, Vikings earn wins in youth football
MORGAN CITY — The Patterson Colts and the Berwick-Bayou Vista Vikings were victorious during Atchafalaya Youth Football League action Saturday at Tiger Stadium.
The Colts defeated the Morgan City Saints, 26-6, while the Berwick/Bayou Vista Vikings defeated the Morgan City Chiefs, 33-0.
In the Colts’ win, Drexel Boutee rushed for 135 yards and scored touchdowns on runs of 69 and 55 yards. He also had a point after attempt.
Other highlights for the Colts included DonQuan Tillman with a 69 yard touchdown run, Reginald Talver with 67 yards rushing, a point after attempt and a 31 yard touchdown and Gage Todd with a 75-yard kickoff return.
Solid defense was provided by a host of Colts, including Tillman and Tabari DeClouette, who both recovered fumbles.
For the Saints, Morriquise Charles rushed for 52 yards, including a 22-yard touchdown, while Logan Tingle completed two passes — one for 12 yards to Dee Gant and another for 10 yards to Grant Cheramie.
A solid defensive effort for the Saints was turned in by Hunter Daigle.
In Berwick/Bayou Vista’s win, Reid Wiley stood out with three touchdowns — a 16-yard reception and touchdown runs of 31 and 26 yards. He finished the day with 75 yards on the ground.
Other Berwick/Bayou Vista contributors included Jake Srigley, a 60-yard touchdown run; Rustin Ratcliff, a four yard touchdown; Barrett Hover, 35 rushing yards and three points — a kick (two points) and a run; and Lucas Hatch, 27 rushing yards.
Defensively, solid performances were turned in by Srigley, Grayson Wells, Samuel Walker, Cruz Crawford, Payton Dinger, Adam Askew and Seth Giroir.
For the Chiefs, solid defense was turned in by Amarea Christopher, Kim Crappell, Trey Derouen, Logan Booty, Jaybian Hartley and Marguli Singleton.
Saturday’s games will be played at Lumberjack Stadium in Patterson because the Morgan City Tiger Classic Marching Festival will be held at Tiger Stadium in Morgan City.
