Colonels football season tickets on sale
THIBODAUX — The Nicholls State University Ticket Office is now accepting season ticket orders for the 2011 Colonel football season, which features a Thursday night season opener as well as four Southland Conference matchups. Fans can order tickets online through ticketmaster.com, by visiting the ticket office located in Barker Hall or by calling (985) 448-4790.
Season tickets are priced as low as $50 for general admission bleacher seats, which was reduced by $20 from last season, $100 for chairback and $125 for box seats. For Nicholls staff, season tickets are $40 for bleachers with chairback seating available for $80.
“One thing we wanted to look into for this upcoming season was the tickets prices,” said associate director of marking and development Brandon Ruttley. “We wanted to give our fans every opportunity to attend our home games, and we felt like we could do that by lowering the price of our general admission season ticket.”
After closing out his inaugural season with consecutive wins, head coach Charlie Stubbs and his Colonels will kick off the 2011 season at home for the first time since 2006, when Nicholls hosts Evangel University on Sept. 1 for its second annual Blackout Game. All fans are encouraged to wear black, and official t-shirts will be available for purchase later this summer.
The Southland Conference home slate begins with a matchup against in-state rival Northwestern State (Sept. 24/Hall of Fame). After hosting Central Arkansas (Oct. 8/Family Day), the Colonels will square off against defending SLC champion Stephen F. Austin (Oct. 22/Homecoming). The final game in John L. Guidry Stadium for 2011 pits the Colonels against Lamar University (Nov. 12).
Coach Stubbs welcomes back 21 of 24 starters from last season’s squad that claimed victories in all three rivalry games – Texas State, Northwestern State and Southeastern Louisiana - for the first time since 2005. Included in the returnees are first-team All-Southland defensive back Bobby Felder and second-team running back Jesse Turner. Three Colonels also earned honorable mention - quarterback LaQuintin Caston, defensive back Jordan Hanberry and linebacker Jordan Piper.
