Children ages 7 to 12 invited to register for chance to be Children's Day royalty
The selection of the Louisiana Shrimp & Petroleum Festival Children’s Day royalty will be very different this year, according to festival officials.
Children ages 7 to 12 are invited to enter a free drawing for a chance to be crowned Children’s Day king or queen.
The drawing will be held at 3 p.m. Aug. 17 on the porch of the Louisiana Shrimp & Petroleum Festival office located at 715 Second St. in Morgan City.
Children that enter must be present for the drawing to be eligible.
Entry forms will appear in The Daily Review occasionally or may be obtained at the festival office. There is no entry fee. All entry forms must be returned to the festival office by noon on Aug.16.
The new children’s royalty will be presented at the adult Royal Coronation on Aug. 24 at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium.
All children who enter and are present at the drawing will be able to ride on a float in the Shrimp & Petroleum Festival parade on Sept. 1 in Morgan City.
They are also invited to the festival’s opening ceremonies at 5 p.m. Aug. 29 in front of carnival on Second Street in Morgan City.
Annual Children’s Day activities and the children’s parade will be held in Lawrence Park on Sept. 1 in downtown Morgan City.
