Chamber seeking potential leaders in St. Mary Parish

The St. Mary Parish Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a ``Leadership St. Mary'' program.

The program will begin in October and be designed to recruit and develop leaders who will be active and involved in moving the parish forward.

It will begin with a weekend training session, followed by one full day per month for six months.

The first phase of the program is to give the participants exposure to the businesses, education, medical, agriculture, governmental and community service segments of St. Mary Parish. Participants will also receive extensive leadership training that can also be utilized later in their personal careers.

In the second phase, the group will be required to submit a community service project to the Chamber.

Finally, program graduates will be expected to stay involved in the area of their choice to help bring about the needed changes in the parish.

The Chamber expects this to become a recurring program that will help expand the leadership of St. Mary Parish.

Tuition is required for the program and a maximum group of 20 will be accepted. Sponsorships for this program are also available.
