Centerville Men’s Basketball Playoffs get underway Saturday at CHS

CENTERVILLE — Centerville’s Men’s Basketball Playoffs will get underway on Saturday beginning at 2:30 p.m. with four games on tap at the Centerville High School Gymnasium.

Saturday’s action will open with the best 2 out of 3 format with eight teams vying for a spot in semifinal action.

Saturday’s opener will pit Young Stars of Jeanerette against USA of Centerville at 2:30 p.m. The 3:30 p.m. contest will send Tri-City of Morgan City against Roc Boyz of Franklin. Patterson’s Finest will tip off against Thunder of Centerville at 4:30 p.m. before Dem Boyz of Franklin battle Baldwin in the nightcap at 5:30 p.m.

Sunday’s schedule will remain the same with Young Stars and USA tipping off at 2:30 p.m. before Tri-City and Roc Boyz square off at 3:30 p.m. Sunday’s 4:30 p.m. contest will have Patterson’s Finest taking on Thunder before Dem Boyz meet Baldwin in the finale at 5:30 p.m.

With the best 2 of 3 format, action from this weekend’s play will continue if necessary next Saturday with the third game if necessary.

Sunday’s second round action resumes with an East versus East format with games at 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. respectively. In the West versus West format, games are set for 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

The finals are set for Sunday, July 31 when survivors advance in the best of the East-West showdown with games set for 2:30; 3:30 and 4:30 p.m.

Young Stars finished as the top team in the East with a 5-1 record. Tri-City finished with a 4-2 record while Roc Boyz was 2-4 and USA finished with an 0-6 won-loss record.

Dem Boyz and Patterson’s Finest headed up the West with respectable 5-1 overall records. Baldwin finished with a 2-4 record while Thunder posted a 1-5 overall mark.

Admission is $3 for ages 10 and over and $2 for ages 9 and under.
