Centerville Bulldogs win District 8-B opener
CENTERVILLE _ Cameron Pogue allowed only two runs over five innings, hurling the Centerville Bulldogs to a 15-3 District 8-B opening victory over Madison Prep here Saturday at the Centerville High School Baseball Diamond.
Pogue kept the Madison Prep batters in check, surrendering four hits with three strikeouts and five walks over five innings en route to the mound victory.
Centerville supported the 4-hit pitching of Pogue with 11 runs over the first three innings. Madison Prep broke a scoreless tie with a pair of runs in the top half of the second frame for a 2-0 lead. Centerville retaliated with two runs of its own in the bottom half of the second inning, knotting the score at 2-2. Centerville erupted for nine runs in the third frame, building an 11-2 advantage. The Centerville Bulldogs iced away the victory with four insurance runs, strolling away with the easy 15-3 victory in five innings.
Leading hitters for the CHS Bulldogs were: Zaccheaus Jackson, 2 for 3, 2 RBI; Cameron Pogue, 1 for 1, 2 RBI; Chance Landry, 1 for 3, RBI; Peyton Landry, 1 for 4, RBI; Christian Arias, 1 for 3, double, RBI; Tyler Theriot, 1 for 4, 2 RBI and Rodrick Taylor, 1 for 4.
Centerville (1-0 in District 8-B) will play host to Holden on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in league play.
