Breast cancer run is Oct. 27
FRANKLIN — The 12th annual Teche Action Clinic Adeline Guienze Breast Cancer Memorial Fund 5K Run/Walk, a part of the Franklin Harvest Moon Festival, will be held Oct. 27.
The event will begin at 8 a.m. at Courthouse Square in and will go through Franklin’s historic and downtown district.
The fund was established in memory of Adeline Guienze to support its Women’s Health Program.
Funds generated from the event will be designated to pay for mammogram screenings for women who fall within specific income guidelines. It also will fund the program’s breast cancer awareness outreach and education initiatives.
A prize of $150 will be awarded to the top first-place male and female winners. First- through third-place trophies will be awarded for the top male and female runners and the top male and female walkers (by official race clock).
Medals will be awarded for other categories.
The registration fee is $20 for all entrants preregistered by Oct. 19 and $25 for all those registered after Oct. 19.
Senior citizens (ages 62 and older) may register for $15, while schools teams can register for $5.
Early registration fees must be received by 5 p.m. Oct. 19, while late registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. at the Courthouse Square.
All entrants registered by Oct. 19 will receive a commemorative T-shirt, while those registered after that date are not guaranteed a T-shirt. Senior Citizens who preregister are guaranteed a T-shirt, while school teams will not receive T-shirts.
