Boo Bonner Benefit fundraiser Friday
The fourth annual Boo Bonner Benefit, an event to raise monies for the Bright Light Foundation, will be held Friday at the Bayou Vista Community Center.
The event, which will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., has been held annually since 2008 to benefit the Bright Light Foundation. The Bright Light Foundation provides financial assistance to those in the oil field indus-try that have experienced catastrophic illness.
The late Boo Bonner, an oil field communications sales-man from Morgan City, first volunteered for BLF and later was the recipient of its funds during his battle with cancer.
He died on March 3, 2008, but one of his dying wishes was to help the BLF.
To honor Bonner on his birthday as well as benefit to the BLF, his family and friends held its first benefit on Aug. 22, 2008, just five months after his death. The event raised $25,000.
In 2009, the event raised $18,000, while in 2010, the Boo Bonner Benefit gave a $30,000 check to the BLF.
For Friday’s event, Déjà Vu will provide entertain-ment, while Bonner’s cousins and friends, Raymond Mi-chel, Paul Michel and Paul Cheramie will prepare jam-balaya dinners, which will be sold for $5.
A silent auction also will be held, while an eight-day, seven-night stay at Lake-town Wharf in Panama City Beach, Fla., will be raffled. Raffle tickets are $5.
For more information about Friday’s event as well as to inform the organization about anyone needing assis-tance, call Kelly Marcantel (397-2960) or Kaye Bonner (519-5157).
