Bomb, drugs found in Bayou Vista residence, man arrested
BAYOU VISTA, La. A Bayou Vista man was arrested after narcotics detectives conducted an investigation and found a bomb at a residence, according to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert.
Darryl James Perry Jr. of David Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested Thursday for possession of marijuana, possession of Schedule III (steroids), possession of a legend drug without a prescription (Elavil), possession of drug paraphernalia, and manufacturing and possession of a bomb.
Narcotics division detectives conducted an investigation into illegal narcotics activity at his residence. After receiving consent to search the residence, detectives located an improvised explosive device, the news release stated.
The residence and surrounding homes were evacuated.
The Louisiana State Police Explosive Control Unit was contacted and the device was safely retrieved and removed.
Continuing the search of the residence, detectives located marijuana, items of drug paraphernalia, Elavil pills, and steroids, the report stated.
Perry was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail had been set this morning.
