BHS and MCHS meet on tennis court
MORGAN CITY — Berwick and Morgan City met on the tennis court in local action Thursday.
In girls’ action, Berwick’s Signe Parsiola defeated Morgan City’s Harleigh Price, 6-3, 6-1, while the Lady Panthers’ Carolyn Sanford beat Kristina Pitre, 6-1, 6-3.
In other singles’ action, Morgan City’s Jamie Scioneaux defeated Berwick’s Cari Powell, 8-1.
In doubles’ action, Berwick’s Claire Parsiola and Mary Margaret Sanford defeated Savannah Loupe and Eli Cabrera, 6-1, 6-2, while the Lady Panthers’ Emma Gray and Allis Armato were victorious against Ashley Cavalier and Emily LaCoste, 6-2, 6-0.
In other doubles’ action, Berwick’s Shereen Richard and Abby Ledet beat Destinie Scully and Elizabeth Esteban, 8-3; Berwick’s Maggie Martin and Hanna Walker defeated Mary Cronier and Pitre, 8-1; while Morgan City’s Scioneaux and Amber Colbert defeated Abigail Askew and Jeanne Marie Hidalgo, 8-4.
In boys’ action, Morgan City’s John Henry defeated Berwick’s Evan Boudreaux, 0-6, 7-5, 6-2, while Berwick’s Riley Credeur defeated Blake Verret, 6-4, 6-0.
Morgan City’s Tyler Jones defeated Berwick’s Nate Furlette, 9-7, while Morgan City’s Jude Johnson defeated Berwick’s André Adams, 9-8, in a match that included an 8-6 tiebreaker.
In double’s action, Morgan City’s Verrett and Jones defeated Berwick’s V.C. Caruso and Geisler Ibert, 6-1, 6-0, while in a match between Berwick’s Jayce Rentrop and Furlette against Berwick’s Adams and Johnson of Morgan City, Rentrop and Furlette came out on top 9-8 with an 8-6 tiebreaker.
Central Catholic competes at Catholic High-New Iberia
The Central Catholic boys’ tennis team tied Catholic High-New Iberia, 4-4, while its girls’ squad fell 3-2.
In boys’ action, Central Catholic’s Zachary Osburn won 8-5 in one match and 8-2 in another.
In doubles’ play, the Eagles’ Gage Theriot and Connor Hebert won a 9-8 match and dropped an 8-1 match, while Quinlan Duffy and Sal Grizzaffi won 8-4 in one match and fell 8-6 in another.
In other doubles’ action, Central Catholic’s Brandon Anslum and Noah Osburn fell by scores of 8-2 in two matches.
In girls’ action, Central Catholic picked up wins in doubles’ play when Emma Thomas and Jessica Landry defeated a team from Catholic High, 3-6, 6-2, 10-3, while Allie Landry and Brooke Picou won 6-0, 6-4.
In other girls’ singles’ play, Central Catholic’s Jaclyn Garber and Kate Patterson fell by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores, while Central Catholic’s Lindsee Case and Lynze Belle fell in doubles’ play, 6-0, 6-3.
