Berwick woman arrested on drug charges
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Narcotics Division reports the following arrests:
—Delisha Josephine Smith, 25, of 2637 Fifth St., Berwick, was arrested 12:36 p.m. Wednesday at 1455 Railroad Ave., Morgan City, on warrants for possession of legend drug (Zestoretic) without a prescription, possession of marijuana, possession of CDS in the presence of a juvenile and violation of drug-free zone.
On Wednesday, narcotics agents came into contact with Smith at the sheriff’s office in Morgan City where she turned herself in on the above active warrants. Smith was taken to the parish jail for booking. Bail was set at $15,000.
—Carren Comeaux, 31, of 126 Moffet Court, Morgan City, was arrested at 4:55 p.m. Wednesday at 1455 Railroad Ave., Morgan City, on a warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia. Comeaux is in the parish jail on separate charges.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert stated deputies responded to 38 complaints in the past 24 hours and reported the following arrests:
—Robert L. Mulligan, 60, of 759 Degravelle Road, Amelia, was arrested at 7:11 a.m. Wednesday at his residence on a failure to appear warrant on an original charge of possession of marijuana or synthetic cannabinoids. He was taken to the parish jail. Bail was set at $15,000.
—Kashonda Richard, 35, of 3203 Hwy 87, Franklin, was arrested at 8:05 a.m. Wednesday at 500 Main St., Franklin, on charges of failure to appear for issuing worthless checks with bail set at $750. Richard was also detained for a St. Martin Parish warrant for failure to appear for expired motor vehicle license and driving under suspension. She was taken to the parish jail.
—Julian Otis, 35, of 211 Southeast Blvd., Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1:06 p.m. Wednesday at Walmart in Bayou Vista on the charge of theft of merchandise, amount totaling $26.53. He was released on a summons to appear in court.
—Shane Anslum, 32, of 1168 Delmar St., Morgan City, was arrested at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the sheriff’s office in Morgan City on a warrant for indecent behavior with a juvenile. During an investigation of the alleged offense the deputy was able to obtain a warrant for the charge. He was taken to the parish jail. No bail has been set.
—Louis Plaisance, 89, of 604 Tournament Blvd., Berwick, was arrested at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, on a charge of hit and run driving. The charge was the result of an accident that happened on U.S. 90 in the Amelia area in which Plaisance is accused of causing the accident with another vehicle at the location and then left the scene. Plaisance was issued a summons to appear in court.
—Hung Van Tran, 40, of Pinell Trailer Park, Baldwin, was arrested at 7:01 p.m. Wednesday on La. 83 in Baldwin, on a charge of failure to appear for operating a vehicle with an improperly secured load. He was taken to the parish jail. Bail was set at $5,000.
