Berwick police report 2 arrests

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reports the following arrests in the eastern part of the parish.

—Blade Jared Jett, 23, of Diane Lane, Patterson, was arrested at 7:51 p.m. Thursday on Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista for license plate light required and possession of alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle. He was released on a summons to appear in court in February.

—Gregory Keith Gober Jr., 24, of Sixth Street, Berwick, was arrested at 7:51 p.m. Thursday on Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista for possession of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle. He was released on a summons to appear in court in February.

—Amber Christina Benoit, 23, of Sharon Street, Lafayette, was arrested at 9:41 p.m. Thursday in Bayou Vista for possession of drug paraphernalia and on a warrant from Lafayette Parish for criminal trespassing. A deputy patrolling the Bayou Vista area responded to a complaint at a retail store in Bayou Vista. The deputy came into contact with Benoit and learned of the warrant for her arrest. Following her arrest Benoit was also found to be in possession of a glass pipe, the report stated. She was brought to the parish jail where she remains with bail not yet set on the warrant charge. For the drug paraphernalia charge, Benoit was issued a summons to appear in court in February.

—Samantha J. Landrendeau, 20, of Lake Palourde Road, Amelia, was arrested at 2:05 p.m. Thursday on Redwood Street in Morgan City on a warrant for two counts of simple battery and disturbing the peace intoxicated. A deputy observed a vehicle fail to signal a turn and conducted a traffic stop. During the investigation the deputy learned that the passenger, identified as Landrendeau, was wanted on the warrant. She remains jailed with a $1,250 bail.

—A male juvenile, 16, was arrested at 8:51 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Parish Alternative School for simple battery. A deputy at the school responded to a disturbance in a classroom. The school administration alleges that the juvenile male struck another student in the mouth. The deputy learned that the juvenile had threatened to fight the other student. He was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.

Berwick police made two arrests overnight, according to Chief James Richard:

—Christine Ann Hughes, 29, of Vivian Street, Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 10:19 p.m. Thursday on Versen Street for two counts of simple battery. She was released on $500 bail.

—Roberto Rivera Cruz Jr., 29, of Brashear Avenue, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:46 p.m. Thursday at the corner of Bowman and Sixth streets for stop sign and yield sign violation, driving under suspension, outstanding warrants from 16th Judicial Court for driving under suspension and speeding and another warrant from 16th Judicial Court for driving under suspension and seat belt violation. He remains jailed awaiting bail.

Morgan City police made no arrests overnight, according to Assistant Chief Glenn Blanco.
