Berwick police arrest Morgan City man for simple battery

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:

—Robert Burnside, 25, of Progresso Road in Patterson, was arrested at 7:27 a.m. Tuesday for simple criminal damage to property. A deputy responded to a business located on Ford Industrial Road in Amelia in reference to a complaint of damaged property. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from security personnel that the glass on a vending machine had been broken. During the investigation, the deputy developed Burnside as a suspect. Burnside was taken to the parish jail and held. His bail is set at $1,000.

—Thomas Dillen, 53, of B. Hibe Road in Carencro, was arrested at 12:54 p.m. Tuesday on two warrants from the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office for failure to yield and driving under suspension. At the request of customs agents, a deputy responded to Youngs Road in Morgan City to serve the warrants. Dillen was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.

—David Patrick Chaisson, 34, of Southwest Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 6:14 p.m. Tuesday for possession of marijuana and synthetic cannabinoids, possession of drug paraphernalia, and abuse of toxic vapors. St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office narcotics division detectives patrolling the Bayou Vista area conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failing to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Southeast Boulevard and Saturn Road. Detectives made contact with the driver who was identified as Chaisson. Chaisson gave detectives consent to search his vehicle and marijuana, synthetic cannabinoids, and a grinder were found, the report stated. Chaisson was released on a summons to appear in court on July 5.

—Erica Denise Boudreaux, 25, of Venus Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7 p.m. Tuesday for possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile, violation of CDS law (drug free zone), and obstruction of justice. Narcotics detectives conducted an investigation into illegal drug activity on Venus Road. Upon detectives’ arrival, there were several small children playing in the yard. Detectives received consent to search the residence, and located marijuana, the report stated. Boudreaux was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:

—Alvin Francois, 42, of Everett Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:22 p.m. Tuesday for simple battery. Francois was released on $250 bail.

Officers located Francois after a juvenile girl stated that Francois had approached her in her garage, sat down next to her and grabbed her several times. The girl told him she was 16. Francois eventually left the garage and then came back. The girl called police after Francois left the scene again. Officers found him in Berwick and arrested him.

—Kenneth Litteral, 31, of Francis Street in Berwick, was arrested at 1:47 a.m. today for domestic abuse battery third offense. Litteral is awaiting bail to be set.

Officers responded to a domestic altercation in progress. The woman who called stated that her husband entered the residence on Francis Street and grabbed her cell phone, which she had on her, while she was sleeping. Litteral then threw a box fan at the woman, she said. The woman escaped out the window and got to a neighbor’s house and called police.

Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:

—Carey Stephon Dwayne Woods, 29, of Sugar Hill Road in Houma, was arrested at 4 p.m. Tuesday for loud music, driving under suspension and on a warrant from the Chambers County Sheriff in Texas for probation violation on unlawful possession of a controlled substance. He remains in jail awaiting extradition to Texas.

Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrest:

—Kedesha N. Scott, 18, of Idaho Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:44 a.m. today for disturbing the peace, criminal damage to property more than $500 (felony) and on a City Court warrant for telephone harassment.

Officers were dispatched to a disturbance in the Bowman Street area. Upon arrival and investigation, they learned that a suspect identified as Scott had caused a disturbance and had also cut four tires on a vehicle and shattered a window, the report stated. The suspect was located in the Fifth Street area and taken into custody. She was also found to have a local City Court warrant on file. She was taken to jail and is awaiting bail to be set.
