Possible mercury contamination closes levee area in Berwick

First responders from Berwick look at the point on the River Road levee, near Rose Street, where a chemical was found to be leaking Monday. Early and unconfirmed reports identified the substance as mercury.

Berwick Police Department and Berwick Volunteer Fire Department have blocked access to the levee at Rose Street and River Road as the departments evaluate a possible mercury contamination.
