Berdine Gobert Verdun
January 18, 1927 — July 2, 2013
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson for Mrs. Berdine Gobert Verdun, 86, a native and life-long resident of Patterson, who departed this life on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at her home. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The Rev. Bennefield will officiate the services.
Berdine Gobert Verdun was born Jan. 18, 1927, to Telemarque Joseph and Zenobia Taylor Gobert as the fourth of seven children. She married Adam G. Verdun on July 7, 1949, and through this union raised three children: Elizabeth, Eric and Belinda.
She is survived by her two daughters, Elizabeth V. Prevot and Belinda Verdun; one son, Eric A. Verdun and his wife, Mary; four sisters, Mardell G. Burgess, Anna G. Vining, Geraldine G. Verdun and Enola G. Walker; three grandchildren, Errol D. Prevot and his wife, Kioshin, Eric A. Verdun II, and Chelsea P. Taylor and her husband, Timmy; one great-grandson; three great-granddaughters; along with a host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adam G. Verdun; parents, Telemarque Joseph and Zenobia Taylor Gobert; son-in-law, Ludger Prevot; sisters, Senora G. Lima and Gertrude G. Pellerin; brothers, George Gobert and Nicholas Gobert; sisters-in-law, Rose Verdun and Odette V. Williams; nephew, Gordon Verdun; and five brothers-in-law.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m., with the rosary being prayed at 10:30 a.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be Errol Prevot, Eric Verdun II, Craig Verdun, Laverne Verdun, Mark Vining and David Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Verdun, Robert Verdun, Chucky Verdun, Mario Verdun, Guy Verdun and Alex Labry.
Following services, a gathering for family and friends will be at the Patterson Civic Center.
