Beatrice Francis, 94, a lifelong resident of Berwick, passed away Monday, Aug. 1, 2011, at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City.
She was born July 16, 1917, in Berwick, the daughter of Gilbert and Agnes Theriot Nini. Later in life she married Percy Francis, and he preceded her in death.
Beatrice retired after working for over 20 years at the Berwick Elementary School as a cafeteria cook. She was a parishioner of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Berwick. She loved to cook and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Beatrice is survived by one son, Wayne Francis and wife Ellen of Berwick; one daughter, Nettie Landry and husband Elton of Houma; six grandchildren, Christine Henry and husband Lud of Berwick, Michael Francis and wife Rachael of Houma, Brian Francis and wife Jeana of Spring, Texas, Gina Green of Berwick, Tracey Dugas of Berwick, and Kelly Williamson and husband Matthew of Berwick. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bonnie Agnelly and husband Walter of Berwick.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Una Russo; and two brothers, Wilbert “Shiek” Nini and Aubrey Nini.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Berwick. Visitation will take place from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Tuesday. Beatrice will be laid to rest in the Berwick Mausoleum following the mass.
